Extraordinary results reached in leasing of Kotka Old Port Designer Outlet Center were marked by a reception hosted by the Ambassador of Finland to Italy

On February 16, 2017, a reception was held at the Residence of the Ambassador of Finland to Italy to welcome new tenants to the Kotka Old Port Designer Outlet Center. Such luxury brands as Genny, Loriblu, Basile, Marville, John Ashfield, Caleffi and Sicilia’s Italian Restaurant have joined the world-famous Baldinini, Missoni, Versace Jeans, Luxury Zone and several others who have  committed to the project earlier last year.

The guests were addressed by Mr. Janne Taalas, the Ambassador of Finland to Italy , who expressed his strong belief in the Project, which will be the first outlet center to be built in Finland . "Kotka Old Port is an example of a courageous and visible project. In Finland and especially among the visitors of Helsinki area there is a big demand for famous Italian firms and brands. At the moment Europe needs ambitious investments , exactly as this one", - said the Ambassador.

The Mayor of Kotka, Mr. Henry Lindelof, and the project developer, Mr. Cameron Sawyer, likewise addressed the guests with various news items concerning the Project, including the decision of the relocation of XAMK University of Applied Sciences to the Old Port area, bringing 2,500 students and around 300 personnel to the immediate vicinity of the Project, and the success of the City of Kotka/Cursor cruise program, which has booked cruise ship calls in Kotka bringing more than 7,000 cruise passengers to Kotka already this year. Furthermore, progress has been made in the establishment of a direct ferry link between St. Petersburg and the Kotka Old Port, which will make it especially comfortable for Russians desiring to shop and visit Kotka. Reports were also made about ongoing negotiations with Chinese tour agencies to bring Chinese shopping tourists to the Project. Commenting on the results of the leasing activities, Sawyer said: "The team are very pleased with the outstanding results of the leasing program for the Old Port project, which has now reached the stage where almost all of the space in the first phase is already allocated, and we are extremely proud of the remarkable work done by DEA Real Estate Advisor, the company responsible for leasing, and its Head Mr. Luca De Ambrosis .

"Not only the quantity of space leased so far, but also the type and level of the brands, prove that Kotka Old Port will be the dominant outlet center in Finland, with a strong presence of Italian luxury brands, which have great geographic reach, making it worthwhile for shoppers to drive for significant distances or travel from other countries.  The strong presence of high end Italian fashion brands are also highly complementary to the City of Kotka’s successful program to attract cruise ship visits to Kotka, as Baltic cruise lines lack good shopping opportunities",  said Mr. Cameron Sawyer.
