Kotka Old Port wins “Moscow Entrepreneur - 2014” competition as the most creative project

GVA Sawyer’s project “Kotka Old Port” has won the annual Moscow Government competition “Moscow Entrepreneur — 2014” in the category “The Most Creative Project”. The official awards ceremony for winners and laureates took place on May 28, 2015 in the Universal Hall of Moscow Government on Novy Arbat.


The competition, organized by the Department of Science, Industrial Policy and Entrepreneurship of Moscow and International Social Organization Moscow Association of Entrepreneurs, has been held since 1998 and it has always attracted lots of participants. This year there were more than 300. The competition is a place for business communication and its aims are to determine the best enterprises and projects in Moscow, to encourage cooperation between business and authorities, to give the participants an opportunity to broaden their professional networks and to share their successful experience. A panel of experts had been estimating the nominees and discussing their decisions for over six months. The participants had to prove their business success by the existing projects and present the concepts of their start-ups.


The program of the forum, held on May 28, included an exhibition of the participants, an intense business program, in which Vera Setskaya, President of GVA Sawyer, took part, and an official awards ceremony.


In her speech Vera Setskaya outlined the company’s plans on development of the territory of an old port (Kantasatama) in Kotka, Finland, and presented the first phase of construction – construction of an Outlet Centre within a mixed-use complex. “A huge new urban development project “Kotka Old Port”, managed by GVA Sawyer, its partners and an international group of investors, will become a landmark event not only in Finland, but in Russia as well. Besides, we have a wonderful team of the world’s leading experts in the field. We hope, and not without a reason, that the project “Kotka Old Port” will become one of the most remarkable projects in the region and will be equally interesting to Finnish and Russian visitors”, Vera Setskaya emphasized.


The creative concept of the project arose much interest of the expert panel and the audience. It was highly regarded by all the participants, and GVA Sawyer was awarded with a statuette and a diploma by the Moscow Government.


“Moscow Entrepreneur” competition is a part of business program of the X Forum “Clubs of Moscow”, devoted to the 10th anniversary of the international association “Club of Clubs” and the 25th anniversary of the club “Moscow Entrepreneur”. The representatives of GVA Sawyer are invited to take part in the events in order to present a new hub of investment opportunities – Kotka-Hamina region of Finland, and the largest development project in Finland, “Kotka Old Port”. The Forum will be opened on June 8 in the Universal Hall of the Moscow Government. Its program includes numerous exhibition, presentations and workshops.
